As you may have seen on the news and in the press this bank holiday weekend, Newcastle welcomed the tallest crane ever to come to the region. The 127 metre tall monster, which can lift 450 tonnes, arrived on the back of eight large lorries, with a second, smaller crane to help assemble it.
The crane is visible from all points of Newcastle and will be on-site for up to 18 months and be used to construct the landmark project, Hadrian’s Tower on Rutherford Street. The tower will be close to 89 meters and will be Newcastle’s tallest building.
